 We had just unboxed the Nokia Lumia 920 a few days back and are pleasantly surprised by its camera performance, especially in the video recording department. So, we gathered up two other phones(with point and shoot rivaling cameras) namely the Nokia 808 PureView and the Samsung Galaxy S3 from our labs and put the three to test in terms of full HD 1080p video recording. If you ask us, we felt that the video quality, with excellent image stabilization was best on the Nokia Lumia 920, while the audio quality was best in the 808 PureView. It is also interesting to note that none of the devices were able to replicate the exact colour from reality. The 808 PureView had washed out colours, but was almost close. The Lumia 920 had warmer colours while the Samsung Galaxy S3 had cooler colours. Again, the Nokia 808 seems to trump the other two phones.  Blackberry manufacturer, RIM, today announced its third quarter earnings report. The company has reported losses of $114 million which is equivalent to $0.22 per share. Revenues were $2.7 billion during the quarter ending December 2012. The company has once again managed to beat analyst predictions who estimated losses to to the tune of $0.35 per share. The company has shipped 6.9 million smartphones and 2,55,000 PlayBook tablets during the period in question. To put it in perspective, smartphone sales at RIM dipped by 0.5 million units where as Playbook shipments nearly partly due to the introduction of a 4G capable model to the line up. RIM is betting big on its upcoming BB10 based smartphones to help improve its diminishing market share.

 Another day and yet another image of the upcoming BlackBerry 10 based handset has turned up on the internet. Called the BlackBerry Z10, the company is expected to eschew using its traditional four digit model number naming scheme. The full touch smartphone will run the QNX based BB10 OS and is expected to be revealed on 30th January at an event in New York. Unwired View have managed to get their hands on marketing material for the upcoming handset wherein it is pictured in both white and black. The smartphone is believed to be a part of the L Series of touch optimized handsets at RIM. Internally the handset should be very similar to the specifications of the Dev Alpha units we'd reported on earlier. The handset will be accompanied by a QWERTY equipped handset. [Via - Unwired View]

 Simmtronics Semiconductors has launched XPAD X-720 with a 7-inch (800 x 480 pixels) capacitive multi-touch display and Android 4.0 (Ice Cream Sandwich). It has a 1 GHz Cortex A8 processor and comes with a VGA front-facing camera. The tablet is made in Simmtronics factory in India and the company had already launched the tablet in Middle East and GCC countries like Saudi, Qatar and UAE.  Nokia has started rolling out a new PR 1.1 software update for the Lumia 920 and the Lumia 820 in the US and Canada. This update would bring several enhancements including improved Bluetooth connectivity, faster start-up and better imaging and battery management. Nokia Lumia 920 version 8.0.9903.10 and the downloading process. It takes about 30 minutes for the update to complete.
