ESPNcricinfo updated its Android and iPhone apps
with new features back in June with new features . Now the website has released a redesigned mobile website that utilizes HTML5 along with interactive designs for enhanced user experience across smartphone platforms as well as J2ME and other entry-level Java-based platforms such as Nokia S40 devices. The redesigned mobile website makes the content visibly richer and makes scrolling and updates faster. It offers live updates, scores, as well as news, blogs, records, statistics and features. You can also easily share content on social networks as well as the ability for users to view and post comments.The HTML-5 based web app is in public beta, which would roll out to all later today. Users can test the app at m-beta.espncricinfo (for iOS and Android) and phone.espncricinfo (other mobile operating systems). ESPNcricinfo would also update the iOS and Android apps next week that would enhance user experience. iPhone app would also be redesigned for iOS 7. New features in these apps include:
- Option to set an alternate style for the home page
- Set reminders for upcoming matches
- New ‘Tournaments’ page to catch all the attention related to a tournament
- Landscape Mode support for the full scorecard
- Introducing filters across the app to ensure content is more streamlined and easier to access
- Widget support for the Android app
- Ability to compare the statistics of 2 players
- An option to view different types of match graphs
- Ability to listen to podcasts as the user browses through the app or other apps.
- A vibrant design for a richer and more intuitive user experience
- Support for related links for a news item on the home page to get the most comprehensive coverage possible.
- Introducing ‘Cricket on Twitter’ and ‘ESPNcricinfo on Facebook’
- Ability to share score updates through SMS.
ESPN has partnered with Nokia to develop and load ESPN apps including ESPNcricinfo, ESPNFC, ESPNF1 and the ESPN Hub on Asha line of entry-level devices.
