Like any other Apple event, the event started off with numbers from the past discussing the sales and success that the previous generation iPhones have had. This time, Tim Cook had an interesting fact and said that, by the end of October, nearly 700 million iOS devices would have been sold. At June, during the WWDC, Apple had announced that it has sold close to 600 million iOS devices till then. iOS devices include – iPhones, iPod Touches, iPads and iPad Mini.
During the event, Cook also claimed that the focus of the company was turning back home and he particularly highlighted a store in Stanford, California. The iPhone 5S is a minor update and it comes nearly a year after the iPhone 5 was launched. Along with the premium iPhone 5S, Apple has launched a subsidiary iPhone 5C for the first time to capitalize on the mid-range market. The two iPhone strategy is new for Apple and we will have to wait to see how it works out for the Cupertino giant.
For the first time, China is among the countries where the iPhone will be launched first and this is a result of China’s huge smartphone market which will eventually overtake USA to become the biggest smartphone market. Apple has come out of its shell with a cheap iPhone, but will it really be cheap and will it eat into the ever growing Android market? What do you think?
